## Responsibilities

- Design and Implement Cloud Infrastructure: Architect and deploy scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure on public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) using Infrastructure as Code principles. Design systems that support Airwallex's mission to process cross-border payments reliably at global scale.
- Kubernetes and Container Orchestration: Build, optimize, and maintain Kubernetes clusters handling millions of transactions. Implement container orchestration strategies, resource management, and autoscaling policies to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency across distributed systems.
- Service Mesh Architecture and Management: Design and implement service mesh solutions using Istio to manage inter-service communication, enable advanced traffic management, implement security policies, and provide observability across the microservices ecosystem.
- Core Services Development: Develop and maintain critical core infrastructure services in Go or Python that form the foundation of Airwallex's platform. Write production-grade code with comprehensive testing, monitoring, and documentation.
- Security Implementation and Best Practices: Implement robust security practices throughout the infrastructure stack including network security, secrets management, access controls, encryption at rest and in transit, and compliance with financial industry standards.
- Reliability and Performance Optimization: Ensure systems maintain high availability and reliability through strategic design decisions. Monitor performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to support payments processing with minimal latency and maximum uptime.
- Automation and DevOps Excellence: Develop automation solutions to eliminate manual operations, streamline deployment pipelines, and improve developer experience. Build self-service platforms that enable engineering teams to operate infrastructure independently.
- Monitoring, Logging, and Observability: Implement comprehensive observability solutions including metrics collection, distributed tracing, log aggregation, and alerting. Ensure full visibility into system behavior to enable rapid incident response and root cause analysis.

This role is based in Singapore.

**Qualifications**

* 6+ years working with large, distributed systems. Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and patterns.
* Deep experience with **public cloud** (GCP, AWS, or Azure), Infrastructure as Code, and **Kubernetes.** Experience with **Istio service mesh**
* Ability to write services in Golang(preferred) or Python.
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or similar field.
* Strong security skills and hands-on experience with security best practices.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.

For senior software engineers, we expect you to have around 7 years or at least 6 years engineering experience. You should be able to demonstrate more in - depth understanding in the complexity of projects and the design of code systems.

For SDE2 engineers, we expect you to have over 4 years or at least 3 years engineering experience. You should be able to solve problems related to coding and system design independently.
