## Responsibilities

- Architect Next-Generation Financial Sync Platform: Design and build the extensible ERP integration platform that enables external vendors and internal teams to develop custom financial data integrations. This includes establishing vendor SDK architecture, designing plugin systems for business entity logic, and ensuring reliable data delivery to merchant ERP and GL systems at scale.
- Own End-to-End System Design and Data Modeling: Take ownership of complex financial data workflows from first design documentation through production operation. Design database schemas for contract-to-cash processes, establish data consistency patterns across distributed systems, and implement operational monitoring to catch edge cases weeks after deployment.
- Build Usage-to-Billing Data Pipeline Infrastructure: Develop high-volume event ingestion systems that capture raw usage telemetry, implement aggregation logic for accurate metering, and create dynamic pricing transformation layers. Optimize for both throughput and correctness in financial calculations where accuracy is non-negotiable.
- Develop Full-Stack Financial Features: Work across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers to deliver customer-facing features. Build configuration surfaces including in-app workflow builders for financial processes, develop robust backend APIs for financial operations, and implement event infrastructure that reliably processes millions of financial transactions.
- Mentor and Elevate Engineering Organization: Set technical standards and best practices across the growing engineering team. Mentor engineers with diverse experience levels and backgrounds, guide architectural decisions, conduct thoughtful code reviews, and establish a culture of systems thinking and respectful technical debate.
- Collaborate on Customer-Driven Feature Development: Work closely with product and design teams to deliver minimum viable solutions that address customer pain points around complex financial flows. Gather user feedback on initial releases and iterate based on real-world usage patterns to build increasingly sophisticated financial automation capabilities.

###
About the Role

Tabs is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Financial Sync team building a scalable, resilient platform for both the internal engineering teams and external ERP partners. You’ll be building a future, in which any Tabs engineering team can add new business entities with complex logic, and the data will arrive at the merchant’s ERP / GL system reliably.

### **Why Engineers Love Working Here**

Our teams build iteratively — engineers work closely with product and design to to deliver the first version that solves the problem, get it in front of the customers, and then use the feedback to build even better. We keep the bigger picture in mind but don’t let “perfect” get in the way of “useful”. The work spans new product development, system design, data modeling, and operational scale. Engineers join Tabs because they want to own meaningful systems, shape how our platform evolves, and learn from talented peers in a fast-moving environment.

At Tabs you will not be pushing anonymous tickets. You will be trusted with real scope, real decisions, and real customers. We expect engineers to think critically, debate ideas, explain tradeoffs, and follow through.

**What You'll Do**

* Build out the next generation of Financial Sync ERP platform, so that new vendors can build their own integrations within our platform.
* Ship new features that will unblock new customers adopting Tabs for herding their companies’ increasingly complex financial flows.
* Enhance the usage-to-billing pipeline: ingesting raw usage events, aggregating them, turning datapoints into dynamic pricing.
* Work across the full stack — front-end configuration surfaces like an in-app workflow builder, as well as backend and event ingest infrastructure.
* Level up the engineers around you. The engineering organization has a range of experiences and backgrounds, and we’re growing fast. You'll be someone people look up to as you set the technical bar, mentor and learn from those around you, and shape the kind of culture we want as we get bigger.

### **What We Care About**

You'll thrive at Tabs if you:

* Enjoy owning systems end-to-end, from first design doc to fixing production edge cases weeks later.
* Care deeply about correctness and long-term maintainability, but don’t let that stop you from shipping a useful initial version and learning from it.
* Practice systems thinking: spot the pattern across several different issues, talk to people to understand the true requirements, and see the common architectural solution instead of coding band-aid fixes.
* Are comfortable navigating startup uncertainty - we are building the future, so you need to be both opinionated and flexible about what that future ought to be.
* Are curious about domains you don't already understand - like accounting!
* Can disagree respectfully, explain your reasoning, and change your mind when the data says you should.

### The Stack

We care more about how fast you learn than whether you worked with our exact stack, but here are some technologies we work with:

* TypeScript, Node, NestJS
* React, Next.js
* Java / Kafka
* Postgres, Redis, ClickHouse

### Experience

* 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
* Experience with TypeScript or a similar language, and a willingness to work across the stack.
* Understanding of best practices in querying relational databases.
* Experience with high volume data ingest a plus.

We're optimizing for excellent engineers who are good teammates.

## **Perks and Benefits (Full-time Employees)**

* Competitive compensation and equity
* Unlimited PTO
* Up to 100% employer covered monthly healthcare premium (medical, dental, vision)
* Lunch provided via Sharebite, plus dinner for any later in office days.
* Parental leave up to 12 weeks
* Tax free commuter and parking benefits
* Voluntary insurances (Life, Hospital, Critical Illness, Accident)
* Employee Assistance Program (Rightway)
* Free One Medical Membership
* 401k
