What you'll do.

Join Alan's Paris Recruitment Day on June 2nd, 2026, for an exclusive end-of-studies Software Engineering Internship. This 6-month internship offers hands-on experience building vertically integrated healthcare technology that serves over a million members across Europe. You'll work with a product-minded engineering team that values distributed ownership, rapid deployment, and real user impact, requiring prior production deployment experience and willingness to work with Python and JavaScript in a fast-moving startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build Full-Stack Features: Develop and deploy both frontend and backend features that directly impact Alan's member-centric healthcare platform, working across JavaScript for user interfaces and Python for backend services in a production environment.
  • Own End-to-End Product Development: Take ownership of features from conception through production deployment, contributing to daily releases and experiencing the full development lifecycle in a distributed ownership model where you build it and own it.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work alongside product, design, and engineering colleagues to solve complex healthcare integration challenges while maintaining high standards for code quality and user experience.
  • Contribute to Infrastructure and Interfaces: Participate in building robust infrastructure, APIs, and user interfaces that support Alan's healthcare platform serving tens of thousands of companies and over a million members across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada.
  • Iterate on Real User Feedback: Implement improvements based on feedback from real users including members, health professionals, and internal stakeholders, developing product instinct and understanding the healthcare domain.
  • Participate in Knowledge Sharing: Engage in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions with experienced engineers to accelerate learning and contribute to the team's collective growth.

Qualifications

Technical

  • Full-Stack Production Experience

    Demonstrated experience deploying frontend and backend code to production for real users, showing comfort working across the entire technology stack and understanding of deployment processes.

  • Language Flexibility

    Willingness to work with Python and JavaScript; prior experience with these languages is not required but demonstrates the ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to team tech stacks.

  • Software Engineering Fundamentals

    Solid understanding of core programming concepts, data structures, algorithms, and ability to write clean, maintainable code with attention to best practices.

  • Problem-Solving Mindset

    Ability to break down complex problems, think through edge cases, and propose scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment with diverse technical challenges.

Education

  • Master's Degree Completion

    Currently enrolled in the final year of a Master's degree (or equivalent) at a university or engineering school, with ability to obtain university agreement for end-of-studies internship status.

  • Technical Background

    Undergraduate or graduate-level coursework in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical discipline providing foundational knowledge.

Experience

  • Prior Internship Experience

    At least one previous internship or structured work experience in a software development role, demonstrating understanding of professional coding standards and team collaboration.

  • Side Project Development

    Evidence of personal coding projects, open-source contributions, or hackathon participation that demonstrates initiative, self-directed learning, and passion for building technology.

  • Product-Oriented Development

    Experience thinking about and building features from a product perspective, considering user needs and impact rather than technical implementation alone.

Required

  • JavaScript/Frontend Development

    Proficiency or strong willingness to learn JavaScript, including modern frameworks and frontend development practices for building user interfaces.

  • Python/Backend Development

    Comfort working with Python or willingness to quickly adopt it for backend development, API design, and server-side engineering.

  • Version Control & Git

    Proficiency with Git and understanding of collaborative development workflows including branching, merging, code review processes, and distributed team practices.

  • Self-Starter Mentality

    Screening Interview

    Remote or phone-based conversation (approximately 30-45 minutes) focused on understanding your background, motivations for joining Alan, and a brief technical question to assess fundamentals before the on-site recruitment day.

    Technical Interview (On-site)

    60-minute structured technical interview conducted at Alan's Paris headquarters testing problem-solving approach, coding ability, and product thinking. Designed to reflect how the engineering team actually builds features, with focus on real-world scenarios and decision-making.

    Decision Checkpoint and Feedback

    15-minute structured evaluation following technical interview with immediate feedback on performance. Only candidates who successfully demonstrate technical competency advance to the next interview stage and team lunch.

    Alaner Fit Interview (On-site)

    90-minute interview (includes 45-minute interview plus 45-minute lunch) conducted with engineering team members focused on assessing cultural alignment, mindset, curiosity level, and whether Alan's values (Mission is the Boss, Distributed Ownership, Radical Transparency, Always Growing) resonate with your approach.

    Team Lunch and Informal Discussion
