The role

Summary

Apollo GraphQL is seeking a highly skilled Security Operations Engineer to join their remote team, focusing on advancing detection and response strategies, implementing security frameworks, and driving secure AI adoption. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud security, incident response, and operational security practices.

What you'll do

Detection and Response Strategy: Advance Apollo's security detection and response approach in collaboration with engineering and IT leadership
Compliance Management: Implement and maintain adherence to SOC 2 and other cloud security frameworks
Customer Security Support: Handle security escalations, including responding to security questionnaires and customer audits
Monitoring Systems Optimization: Build and tune monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to enhance visibility while reducing noise
Workflow Automation: Drive automation of SecOps workflows to accelerate investigation and response processes
AI Security Guidance: Guide secure AI adoption across Apollo, including internal engineering use and AI-powered product features
On-Call Responsibilities: Participate in a lightweight and reasonable on-call rotation

Technical

Cloud SecurityExpertise in building and operating security controls across AWS, GCP, or similar cloud environments
Security ToolingExperience building and automating security tools using programming/scripting languages, SIEM, and SOAR platforms
Incident ResponseProven ability to lead or coordinate incident response across multiple teams

Education

Cybersecurity BackgroundRelevant degree or equivalent professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, or related field

Experience

Industry Experience6+ years of experience in security operations, incident response, or related fields
Senior-Level ExpertiseAt least 2 years in a staff or senior-level security role

Skills

Required skills

Cloud SecurityDeep expertise in detection and response within cloud-native environments
Security FrameworksStrong knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar security compliance standards
ProgrammingProficiency in at least one programming or scripting language
CommunicationAbility to explain technical security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to have

AI SecurityExperience with AI security in detection, incident response, or product security contexts
Enterprise AuditsExperience supporting enterprise customer audits or due diligence processes
Infrastructure as CodeFamiliarity with Terraform, Kubernetes, or modern infrastructure management tools
