Summary

BetterUp is seeking a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to drive innovation in their Performance Intelligence platform, focusing on building automated, scalable systems that transform unstructured data into strategic workforce insights. The ideal candidate will architect data pipelines, develop self-service tools, and collaborate across engineering, product, and data science teams to revolutionize how organizations understand and develop their people.

What you'll do

Automation & Scale: Architect and build automation tooling to reduce manual insight generation efforts, design data pipelines for processing unstructured data, and create self-service tools for cross-functional teams

Product Engineering: Develop enterprise-grade frontend and backend services, build robust APIs, and collaborate with data science to operationalize machine learning models

Infrastructure & Reliability: Own full component lifecycle, build scalable systems using container technologies, design efficient data infrastructure, and implement data quality validation systems

What we look for

Technical

Backend DevelopmentExperience with Ruby, Elixir, Python, Node.js, or similar backend technologies

Frontend DevelopmentProficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend frameworks

Data ProcessingExperience building data pipelines, ETL processes, and working with large-scale data processing

Education

Educational BackgroundBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Industry Experience7+ years of relevant software engineering experience, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment

Engineering PracticesStrong software engineering practices including unit testing, code reviews, and design documentation
