Summary

Character.AI is seeking a talented Software Engineer specializing in Safety Engineering to develop innovative tooling and product experiences that ensure a safe, transparent, and engaging platform for AI interactions. The ideal candidate will design front-end systems that balance user experience, risk mitigation, and platform reliability while collaborating across multiple teams to create cutting-edge Trust & Safety solutions.

What you'll do

Safety System Design: Design and develop front-end experiences for Trust and Safety systems, balancing risk reduction, user experience, and platform reliability
User Behavior Analysis: Analyze user patterns and design technical solutions that encourage positive platform interactions
Safety Design Systems: Co-create modular and scalable safety design systems to enable rapid and safe product feature launches
Moderation Workflow Tools: Collaborate with Trust & Safety teams to build tools that enhance decision-making capabilities
AI-Assisted Moderation: Design interfaces and interaction models that facilitate smooth human-AI collaboration in content moderation
Data Insights Integration: Create frontend systems to visualize feedback loops between moderation actions and AI model training

What we look for

Technical

Front-End Engineering5+ years of experience in Front-End or Full-Stack Software Engineering
Technology StackProficiency in TypeScript, CSS, React, React Native, and HTML

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Consumer Product DevelopmentDemonstrated experience building features for consumer products
Agile EnvironmentProven ability to work in fast-paced development environments
