The role

Summary

Clipboard Health is seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join their remote, globally distributed team. The role focuses on building scalable, high-impact solutions for a healthcare staffing marketplace that connects professionals and facilities, with opportunities to develop innovative features and contribute to a mission-driven technology platform.

What you'll do

Backend Service Development: Write performant backend services using Node/NestJS, ensuring high-quality, scalable code that supports the company's marketplace platform
Data Management: Leverage MongoDB, Postgres, and Redis to maintain data integrity and optimize performance at scale
Full Software Development Lifecycle: Own the complete process from problem definition and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support
Customer Collaboration: Engage directly with product managers and occasionally with customers to understand requirements and validate solutions
System Reliability: Participate in on-call rotations, typically one week per month, to ensure platform reliability and rapid issue resolution
Technical Debt Management: Allocate approximately 20% of time to addressing technical debt and implementing structural improvements

Programming LanguagesProficiency in TypeScript, with experience in Node/NestJS and React
Database TechnologiesExperience with MongoDB, Postgres, and Redis
Cloud InfrastructureFamiliarity with AWS (ECS, Terraform) and cloud-based application deployment
Testing MethodologiesStrong understanding of service integration testing, E2E testing, and selective unit testing

Education

Computer Science/Software EngineeringBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

Experience

Production DevelopmentExperience developing, monitoring, and supporting services in production environments
Remote WorkProven ability to communicate effectively in distributed, asynchronous team settings
