The role

Summary

Confluent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on the Tableflow project, focusing on developing next-generation storage solutions for their Kora platform. The role involves designing innovative storage engine strategies, building multi-tenant infrastructure, and collaborating across teams to advance data streaming technology.

What you'll do

Storage Engine Development: Design and implement innovative strategies for table schematization, materialization, and compaction at massive scale, focusing on advanced storage solutions for the Tableflow project.

Platform Engineering: Build and maintain multi-tenant, highly available infrastructure powering background computational tasks for Kora's long-term storage, ensuring scalability, reliability, and resilience.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, design, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of storage features and infrastructure across the organization.

Cloud PlatformsExperience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

Distributed SystemsStrong understanding of distributed storage systems and infrastructure challenges

Open Source TechnologiesFamiliarity with Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, and Apache Flink

Education

Academic BackgroundBS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field

Experience
