The role

Summary

A Senior Software Engineer II role at Confluent focused on developing and architecting cloud-native Stream Governance platforms for data streaming. The position involves leading critical backend systems, designing highly available distributed services, and driving technical innovation in multi-tenant, cloud-native environments across AWS, GCP, and Azure.

What you'll do

Platform Development: Develop and architect cloud-native Stream Governance platform for Kafka and real-time data streaming

Technical Leadership: Drive end-to-end design and implementation of complex backend services in microservices-based environment

Project Management: Lead projects from requirements through implementation, rollout, and production operations

Technical Decision Making: Make architecture decisions balancing reliability, scalability, performance, and operability

Team Enablement: Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance through code and design reviews

Programming LanguagesProficiency in at least one backend programming language: Java, Go, C/C++, or Python

Distributed SystemsExperience with event-driven architectures, high-throughput services, and large-scale data pipelines

Cloud TechnologiesExpertise in public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Education

Academic QualificationBS, MS, or PhD in computer science, engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience acceptable

Experience

Industry Experience5+ years designing, building, scaling, and operating backend systems in production
