Summary

Confluent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II for their Kora Compute team, focusing on building a highly available, scalable, and secure cloud-native event streaming platform. The ideal candidate will be a passionate engineer with strong distributed systems expertise, capable of driving complex infrastructure solutions and improving data streaming technologies.

What you'll do

Distributed Systems Development: Design, architect, and develop highly available and scalable compute layer for Kora platform

Infrastructure Solutions: Build and optimize cloud-native multi-tenant infrastructure solutions with a focus on performance and reliability

Technical Problem Solving: Identify root causes of complex system challenges and develop comprehensive solutions

Collaborative Engineering: Work closely with team members and stakeholders to drive end-to-end technical solutions

What we look for

Technical

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Java, Scala, C/C++, Go, or other statically typed languages

Cloud InfrastructureExperience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud networking

Distributed SystemsStrong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development

Education

Academic QualificationBS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience

Cloud Experience4+ years of cloud infrastructure/cloud networking experience

Systems OperationsSolid understanding of systems operations including disk, network, and operating systems

Skills

Distributed SystemsDeep understanding of distributed system design and implementation

Cloud EngineeringExperience building and operating large-scale cloud systems
