The role
Summary
Cursor is seeking a Field Engineer for Japan to be the technical frontline of their AI-powered coding platform, working directly with enterprise customers to drive adoption of their developer productivity tool. This role combines deep technical expertise with customer-facing excellence, requiring someone who can bridge the gap between technical engineering teams and business stakeholders. You'll lead proof-of-concept engagements, deliver technical workshops, and serve as a product advocate while helping shape Cursor's enterprise roadmap.

Interview process
- 1Initial Screening Call — 30-minute conversation with a recruiting coordinator focused on background, motivation for the Field Engineer role, and initial assessment of communication skills and technical depth. - 4Product Leadership Conversation — 45-minute discussion with a Product Manager or Engineering lead. Deep dive into how you understand customer problems, translate requirements into product feedback, and think about balancing customer needs with product strategy. Discussion of specific examples where your input influenced product decisions.
- 5Leadership and Culture Fit Discussion — 45-minute conversation with a co-founder, executive, or senior team member. Discussion of your alignment with Cursor's mission around AI-assisted coding, your approach to thriving in fast-paced environments, values around truth-seeking and creativity, and long-term career vision.
- 6Practical Case Study or Demo Scenario — Optional component where you may be asked to present a technical concept, lead a mock customer discovery, or demonstrate how you would position Cursor to a specific customer profile. This assesses real-world problem-solving and communication under pressure.
