What you'll do.
Regional Director, Field Engineering at Cursor leads a high-impact pre-sales Field Engineering team focused on the healthcare vertical, managing technical discovery, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept evaluations for enterprise healthcare accounts. Responsibilities
- Lead and Develop Field Engineering Teams: Build, manage, and scale a high-performing team of Field Engineers supporting enterprise healthcare opportunities. Establish clear performance expectations, career development paths, and coaching frameworks that enable team members to excel in complex technical evaluations and pre-sales engagements.
- Drive Technical Pre-Sales Motion: Partner closely with Sales leadership and Account Executives to design and execute high-quality technical discovery sessions, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept projects tailored specifically to healthcare buyer requirements and organizational constraints.
- Establish Healthcare-Specific Best Practices: Develop standardized methodologies and frameworks for enterprise evaluations that account for healthcare-specific regulatory requirements including HIPAA compliance, data governance protocols, legacy systems integration challenges, and healthcare IT procurement dynamics.
- Serve as Technical Escalation Point: Manage complex customer evaluations and high-stakes enterprise deals requiring senior technical guidance and executive presence. Provide strategic counsel on healthcare-specific implementation challenges and competitive positioning within regulated environments.
- Recruit and Onboard Field Engineering Talent: Source, hire, and successfully onboard Field Engineers with healthcare domain expertise or regulated-industry experience. Design comprehensive onboarding programs that transfer product knowledge, healthcare compliance frameworks, and customer engagement best practices.
- Serve as Voice of the Field: Synthesize customer and prospect feedback from field interactions to inform Product Management and Engineering roadmap priorities. Communicate customer pain points, competitive insights, and market trends to internal stakeholders to drive product strategy alignment.
- Ensure Successful Customer Transitions: Facilitate tight handoffs between pre-sales and post-sales teams to ensure seamless customer onboarding, adoption enablement, and long-term success. Maintain customer relationships through critical early implementation phases to maximize expansion opportunities.
- Maintain Product and Market Expertise: Stay deeply versed in Cursor's product capabilities, AI-native development platform differentiators, technical roadmap, competitive positioning, and healthcare industry trends. Continuously update knowledge to effectively advise customers and guide team selling strategies.

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Related Field

Healthcare or Life Sciences Background (Preferred)
Academic or professional certification in healthcare administration, health informatics, regulated industry compliance, or related healthcare-specific discipline strengthens candidacy for the role.
Experience
4+ Years Pre-Sales Leadership
Minimum four years of direct experience leading Field Engineers, Solutions Architects, Sales Engineers, or similar pre-sales teams in enterprise software environments with demonstrated track record of building high-performing organizations.
Healthcare or Regulated Industry Exposure
Significant professional experience in healthcare, health tech, pharmaceutical, financial services, or other highly regulated industries. Direct engagement with healthcare system procurement, compliance evaluations, and buyer decision-making processes.
Enterprise Sales Collaboration
Proven ability to partner effectively with Sales teams, Account Executives, and sales leadership while maintaining technical credibility, integrity, and customer trust. Experience balancing sales velocity with technical diligence.
Customer-Facing Deal Management
Demonstrated comfort operating in high-pressure enterprise deal environments with complex stakeholder dynamics. Experience guiding teams and customers through multi-month evaluations involving multiple decision-makers and technical requirements.

About the role
We're hiring a Regional Director, Field Engineering to build and lead a high impact pre-sales Field Engineering team focused on Cursor's healthcare vertical — supporting our fastest growing enterprise accounts across health systems, payers, and healthcare software companies. This role sits at the intersection of Sales, Product, and Engineering and is responsible for ensuring our technical pre-sales motion scales with quality, speed, and credibility.
As the Regional Director, Field Engineering, you’ll manage and develop Field Engineers who partner closely with AEs to run technical discovery, demos, and proofs of concept tailored to Healthcare buyers. You’ll also stay close to customers and deals yourself, coaching in real time, unblocking complex evaluations, and ensuring Cursor is positioned as the best AI-native development platform for healthcare engineering organizations.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines technical fluency, strong people management, and excellent cross-functional judgment.
What you’ll do
Lead, coach, and scale a team of Field Engineers supporting enterprise opportunities
Partner closely with Sales leadership and AEs to drive high quality technical discovery, demos, and POCs
Establish best practices for evaluations, proof-of-concept execution, and technical deal strategy, accounting for healthcare-specific requirements (HIPAA, data governance, legacy systems integration)
Serve as an escalation point for complex customer evaluations and high-stakes enterprise deals in the healthcare space
Hire, onboard, and develop top-tier Field Engineering talent with healthcare or regulated-industry domain experience; set clear expectations and career paths
Act as the voice of the field internally, feeding customer and prospect insights back to Product and Engineering
Ensure tight handoffs with post-sales teams to support successful customer onboarding and adoption
Maintain deep knowledge of Cursor’s product, roadmap, and competitive landscape
