Summary

DailyPay is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to play a critical role in architecting and evolving their data platform, focusing on building scalable data systems that drive business decisions across financial compliance, operations, and customer experience in a dynamic, mission-driven worktech environment.

What you'll do

Data Platform Architecture: Design and deliver end-to-end data models and pipelines that power critical business decisions, defining project scopes and ensuring data layer reliability and extensibility
Performance Optimization: Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across high-volume data workflows, optimizing query design, data scanning, and warehouse usage
Business-Technical Translation: Serve as a bridge between technical solutions and business needs, translating complex business logic into clean, reusable datasets
Engineering Excellence: Lead code reviews with a security-first approach, drive rigorous testing standards, and mentor peers to build team redundancy and shared capabilities
Architectural Modernization: Contribute to the transition from monolithic to microservices architecture, ensuring pipelines are re-engineered for robustness, scalability, and maintainability
AI Innovation: Champion AI usage to develop more performant systems, improve proactive alerting, and design data products enabling data-driven decision-making
Production Support: Participate in on-call rotations, responding to production incidents and contributing to blameless post-mortems to strengthen systems

What we look for

Technical

Cloud Data PlatformsExtensive production-grade experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks, understanding cost and performance implications
SQL and Data TransformationAdvanced SQL capabilities, complex query optimization, dimensional modeling, and dbt implementation
Data Engineering ExperienceMinimum 6 years of professional experience in Data Engineering with proven track record of scalable data platform delivery

Education

Bachelor's DegreeComputer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

End-to-End Project OwnershipProven ability to take projects from initial ambiguity through to production, including CI/CD integration and automated testing
Mentorship and CollaborationExperience supporting team growth, contributing to collaborative engineering culture
