What you'll do.

Deliveroo is seeking a New Graduate Software Engineer to join their London engineering team, working on production systems that serve millions of users across their global three-sided marketplace. The role involves building scalable backend services using languages like Go, Ruby, Python, or Scala, with opportunities for mentorship and cross-functional collaboration in a high-impact environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ship High-Quality Code: Improve code structure and contribute to service architecture using Go, Ruby, Python, or Scala
  • Feature Ownership: Take ownership of specific features from design to implementation and influence team roadmap
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain production system health, ensure operational readiness and system visibility
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build relationships with other engineering teams to solve complex marketplace problems
  • Mentorship and Growth: Support peer growth through code reviews and knowledge sharing while receiving senior mentorship
  • Production System Development: Work on systems that impact millions of users across the global marketplace platform
  • Technical Implementation: Assist with technical design and implementation of scalable backend services

Qualifications

Technical

  • Web Application Development

    Experience writing web-based applications in any programming language

  • Database Fundamentals

    Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our London team. In this role, you’ll help us build the future of on-demand delivery, contributing to the services that power our global marketplace.

You’ll be joining a high-impact engineering team at our London headquarters. As a New Grad, you will work on production systems that impact millions of users, supported by a world-class team of engineers.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others:

  • Foundational Knowledge: A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (graduated within the last year).

  • Software Craftsmanship: Pride in writing readable, well-designed, and thoroughly tested software.

  • Technical Curiosity: Experience writing web-based applications in any language and a strong interest in learning our stack (Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, or Rust).

  • Data Fundamentals: Familiarity with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL or MySQL).
