What you'll do.
The AI Automation Engineer role at Fullstory involves designing and implementing AI-powered solutions to enhance financial operations and data analysis capabilities. Working embedded within the Finance team, you'll bridge business needs and technical engineering to automate key workflows, manage data pipelines, and empower finance professionals through AI tools. This hybrid position in Atlanta requires strong programming skills, data warehousing expertise, and the ability to translate complex business problems into scalable technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and Implement AI Solutions: Identify and implement AI-powered solutions embedded within the Finance team to solve complex business problems, from workflow automation to enhanced data analysis. Deliver impactful AI implementations that are actively adopted and used by finance professionals to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Build Technical Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain comprehensive technical infrastructure required to enable AI capabilities, including custom tools, server-side logic, system integrations (REST APIs, microservices), and robust data pipelines for reliable data flow and processing.
- Develop Data Acquisition and Management Processes: Create and manage end-to-end data acquisition processes including sourcing, validation, cleaning, and preparing data for use in AI models and analytics. Ensure data integrity across multiple data sources and establish quality standards for downstream consumption.
- Conduct Data Analysis and Insights: Perform data analysis to uncover meaningful insights, validate data integrity across systems, and support strategic finance initiatives. Use analytical techniques to identify patterns and opportunities for business optimization through AI automation.
- Empower Business Stakeholders: Guide and empower finance professionals to effectively leverage AI tools and technologies for advanced data analysis and strategic decision-making. Provide technical training and support to enable business users to utilize AI-powered solutions independently.
- Act as Technical Bridge: Serve as the primary technical bridge between the Finance team and other engineering groups, translating business requirements into robust technical solutions. Facilitate communication between non-technical stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
- Scale AI Solutions Across Teams: Proactively identify complex business problems suitable for AI automation and scale successful solutions across teams. Contribute to broader engineering discussions about AI best practices and shape the future of AI automation initiatives at Fullstory.

What we look for.
Technical
Strong Programming Skills
Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages for data acquisition, manipulation, cleaning, and preparation at scale. Must be comfortable working with data pipelines and automating data processing workflows.
Data Warehousing and Modeling
Hands-on experience with modern data warehouse platforms such as BigQuery or Snowflake. Solid understanding of data modeling principles, schema design, and optimization for analytical workloads.
System Integration and APIs
Proven experience designing and building solutions that integrate multiple systems and data sources using REST APIs and similar integration patterns. Deep understanding of data flow management across distributed systems.
AI and Machine Learning Fundamentals
Understanding of AI/ML concepts, tools, and frameworks relevant to business automation and analytics. Ability to evaluate and implement AI solutions for specific use cases and optimize model performance.
Database Design and Management
Strong grasp of relational and non-relational database design, query optimization, and data integrity principles. Experience managing databases at scale and ensuring reliable data access patterns.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field
Required qualification demonstrating foundational knowledge in computer science, software engineering, data science, or equivalent technical discipline. Demonstrates capability to understand complex technical architectures and implement scalable solutions.
Experience
Business Stakeholder Collaboration
Proven track record working closely with business stakeholders and understanding their operational needs. Preferably within finance, business operations, or similar business-critical functions where you translated business requirements into technical implementations.
Full Stack Data Engineering
Experience spanning the entire data lifecycle including acquisition, transformation, storage, and analytics. Demonstrated ability to build end-to-end solutions that move data reliably from source systems to analytical platforms.
Problem-Solving and System Thinking
Tenacious problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify root causes and design comprehensive solutions. Experience identifying inefficiencies in business processes and architecting technical solutions to automate or optimize workflows.
Skills
Required
Python or Similar Programming Language
Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Go, or equivalent languages for building data pipelines, automation scripts, and application logic. Must be able to write clean, maintainable code and work with large datasets.
SQL and Data Querying
Advanced SQL skills including complex queries, query optimization, window functions, and performance tuning. Ability to write efficient queries against large datasets and understand query execution plans.
Data Warehouse Platforms
Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, or equivalent cloud data warehouse solutions. Understanding of warehouse architecture, cost optimization, and scaling for analytical workloads.
API Design and Integration
Experience building and consuming REST APIs for system integration. Understanding of authentication, error handling, rate limiting, and best practices for reliable API-based integrations.
Workflow Automation and Orchestration
Experience with workflow automation tools such as Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or cloud-native orchestration platforms. Ability to design and implement reliable, scalable data pipelines.
Business Analysis and Requirements Translation
Ability to understand complex business requirements, identify technical solutions, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience translating business metrics into data models and KPIs.

This is a hybrid position requiring in-office attendance three days per week at our Atlanta office. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance to be considered.
The AI Automation Engineer will report to the Director, Engineering (Enterprise Systems and Data team) and help the Finance team leverage AI so that they can enhance data analysis, automate key workflows, and make more effective business decisions.
You will work embedded within the Finance team to identify opportunities for AI solutions and act as the technical bridge between them and other engineering groups. To excel in this job, you must have a tenacious problem-solving mindset and enjoy building the "glue" that connects systems to enable new capabilities.
In a typical day, you might:

Guide and empower finance professionals to effectively use AI tools and technologies for data analysis and decision-making.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
