Summary

Gecko Robotics is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer | Team Lead to establish and grow their government-focused engineering presence in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical leader who can develop innovative solutions for critical national infrastructure challenges, working closely with government partners to solve complex interdisciplinary problems.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Act as a hands-on technical expert, providing guidance and mentorship to Forward Deployed Engineers while establishing the Washington, D.C. engineering office
Strategic Problem Solving: Identify and develop end-to-end solutions for high-impact challenges in government infrastructure, focusing on critical systems like naval ships, submarines, and aircraft
Resource Management: Manage team resource allocation to balance priorities and ensure optimal project outcomes
Technology Development: Design and deliver transformative technological solutions that evolve Gecko's platforms and tools across the customer base
Customer Engagement: Work closely with mission-driven partners to understand and address complex technical challenges in government infrastructure

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Python, JavaScript, C++, Java, or similar languages
Cloud PlatformsExperience with Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Technical ExpertiseFamiliarity with sensor selection, data processing, data structures, storage systems, and cloud infrastructure

Education

Academic BackgroundBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

Leadership ExperienceProven track record of leading engineering teams
Problem-SolvingDemonstrated ability to work independently, make decisions with minimal supervision, and continuously learn in dynamic environments
