The role

Summary

Hopper is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for their Cloud FinOps team, focusing on optimizing cloud infrastructure, cost efficiency, and platform reliability. The ideal candidate will manage Google Cloud infrastructure, automate systems, and contribute to maintaining a scalable and secure environment for hundreds of engineers supporting millions of users.

What you'll do

Cloud Cost Optimization: Drive cost efficiency initiatives by reducing network egress costs, optimizing storage strategies, and ensuring efficient autoscaling for databases and compute resources
Infrastructure Management: Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
Support and Incident Response: Participate in on-call rotations, provide platform incident support, and contribute to resolving infrastructure-related challenges
Cost Attribution: Improve cost tracking and visibility, ensuring teams have clear insights into their infrastructure expenses
Platform Governance: Review and approve platform-related pull requests, maintain infrastructure standards and best practices

What we look for

Technical

Cloud InfrastructureComprehensive knowledge of cloud providers, with strong preference for Google Cloud
ContainerizationAdvanced experience with Kubernetes, container technologies, and related tooling
NetworkingStrong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, TLS, certificates, and ingress configurations

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred
Advanced CertificationsGoogle Cloud, Kubernetes, or SRE-related certifications are a plus

Experience

SRE ExperienceMinimum 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or similar infrastructure-focused roles
Cloud MigrationProven track record of managing and optimizing large-scale cloud infrastructures

Cloud InfrastructureExpertise in managing large-scale cloud environments, particularly Google Cloud
KubernetesAdvanced container orchestration and management skills
