The role

Summary

Hopper is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to optimize and manage their large Google Cloud infrastructure, focusing on cost efficiency, system reliability, and platform support for a global travel technology company. The ideal candidate will be passionate about automation, infrastructure optimization, and solving complex cloud challenges in a dynamic, innovative environment.

What you'll do

Cloud Cost Optimization: Drive cost efficiency initiatives by reducing network egress costs, optimizing storage strategies, and improving resource allocation
Infrastructure Management: Ensure scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure with optimal autoscaling for databases and compute resources
Cost Attribution: Improve cost visibility and attribution models to provide clear insights for engineering teams
Incident Support: Participate in on-call rotations, provide platform support, and contribute to resolving infrastructure-related challenges
Performance Monitoring: Implement and maintain observability solutions to track system performance and reliability

Cloud ExpertiseProfound understanding of Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native technologies
ContainerizationAdvanced Kubernetes, Kustomize, and Helm expertise
NetworkingComprehensive knowledge of DNS, TLS, certificates, ingresses, and network protocols

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

SRE ExperienceMinimum 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or similar infrastructure-focused roles
Cloud MigrationProven track record of managing and optimizing large-scale cloud infrastructure

Cloud InfrastructureExtensive experience managing large-scale cloud environments, particularly Google Cloud
KubernetesAdvanced container orchestration and management skills
CI/CDProficient in continuous integration and deployment pipelines
DevOpsStrong DevOps practices and infrastructure as code
ScriptingCompetent in Bash, Python, and other scripting languages

Nice to have

Service MeshExperience with Istio and advanced service mesh configurations
ObservabilityExpertise in monitoring, logging, and APM tools like Datadog
