What you'll do.

Knot is seeking a Senior/Staff Infrastructure Engineer to architect and manage critical cloud-based network infrastructure for their innovative financial connectivity platform. The ideal candidate will lead infrastructure design, maintain high-performance API systems, and drive technical excellence in a fast-paced startup environment focused on merchant and banking connectivity solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Architecture: Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based network infrastructure that supports high-performance API services handling hundreds of requests per second
  • Technical Leadership: Lead technical decision-making, provide design justifications, and coordinate infrastructure strategies across engineering teams
  • System Reliability: Maintain and support infrastructure to ensure high service availability, manage technical incidents, and implement robust monitoring and escalation processes
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously assess and evolve infrastructure needs, identifying long-term architectural requirements and opportunities for optimization

Qualifications

What we look for.

Technical

  • Cloud Technologies

    Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform

  • Programming Languages

    Proficiency in Go or TypeScript, with strong understanding of gRPC and Protobuf communication protocols

  • Network Engineering

    Deep knowledge of network primitives, IP converged networks, VPC configurations, load balancers, and IAM role management

Education

  • Degree

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

  • Industry Experience

    6+ years of network engineering experience, preferably in a startup environment

    Advanced skills in designing and managing cloud infrastructure using GCP and Kubernetes

What you’ll do

  • Architect, design, deploy, document and manage our cloud-based network infrastructure.

  • Own and maintain critical API infrastructure serving hundreds of requests per second.

  • Lead and defend technical decisions providing design justification, coordination, and identifying value and requirements for other teams in the organization.

  • Learn and continue to foster an understanding of the long-term needs of our infrastructure.

  • Manage and assist in the resolution of complicated technical problems & incidents and provide appropriate communication & escalation.

  • Support and maintain our current infrastructure to maintain a high level of service and availability to the rest of the organization.

What you’ll need to get the job done

  • 6+ years of network engineering experience at a software company, preferably a startup.

  • Considerable experience with GCP and kubernetes.

  • Track record of automating infrastructure and deployments (e.g. Terraform).

  • Proficiency within a modern tech stack, Go or TypeScript for languages and gRPC & Protobuf for communication, as well as with low-level primitives such as IP converged networks, GCP VPC, load balancers, and IAM role management and implementation.

  • Know what high quality code & software engineering processes look like and know how to foster an environment that creates them.

  • Eagerness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and constantly grow & develop your craft.

  • Expert communication and ability to collaborate seamlessly across engineering teams.
