The role

Summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Financial Data Quality team, responsible for ensuring accurate, consistent, and reliable financial data across billing and revenue systems. The ideal candidate will drive data strategy, improve system integrations, and collaborate closely with Finance and Go-to-Market teams to maintain high-quality financial data infrastructure.

What you'll do

Financial Data Quality Ownership: Maintain end-to-end data quality across billing, revenue, and financial data flows, ensuring consistency, freshness, and accuracy.
Systems Strategy: Drive strategy to bring financial systems and data capabilities in-house, reducing external vendor dependencies while maintaining operational excellence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Finance and Go-to-Market stakeholders to define data requirements, deliver outputs, and ensure data reliability during system evolution.
Data Monitoring and Observability: Establish robust mechanisms for data quality monitoring, validation, and observability to quickly detect and resolve issues.
Reporting and Scalability: Ensure data models and reporting outputs support operational needs and finance workflows at scale.

SQL ProficiencyAdvanced SQL skills with ability to reason about data modeling, validation, lineage, and reliability
System MigrationExperience with complex system migrations and integrating multiple data providers/sources
Data InfrastructureStrong understanding of building resilient data systems and monitoring frameworks

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Team ManagementProven experience managing teams of software and data engineers, particularly in domains requiring high data correctness
Financial SystemsBackground in managing financial data systems, billing infrastructures, or revenue tracking platforms
