Summary

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Statsig team in Bellevue, WA, to design and build core experimentation and rollout infrastructure. The ideal candidate will develop advanced systems for feature management and progressive deployments, enabling safe and rapid product innovation across OpenAI's diverse engineering teams.

What you'll do

Infrastructure Development: Design and build core experimentation and rollout infrastructure used across OpenAI to launch and evaluate product and model changes safely.
Feature Management: Develop systems for feature management, progressive rollouts, and canary deployments that enable quick shipping while minimizing user risk.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner directly with Data Science, product, infrastructure, and research teams to integrate experimentation systems into product development lifecycle.
Technical Leadership: Lead large technical initiatives, shaping the architecture and long-term evolution of OpenAI's experimentation and launch infrastructure.

Technical

Infrastructure DevelopmentStrong experience building internal tooling infrastructure, such as experimentation platforms, feature flagging systems, and developer platforms.
Distributed SystemsAbility to design and operate large-scale distributed systems supporting high-traffic products and rapid iteration cycles.

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred.

Experience

Platform EngineeringProven track record of building internal developer tools and platforms that enhance engineering productivity.
Complex SystemsExperience taking ownership of complex technical problems end-to-end and driving architectural decisions.
