Summary

OpenAI's Cybersecurity Products team is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to build advanced AI-powered security tools that help engineering teams discover, validate, and remediate vulnerabilities. The ideal candidate will develop end-to-end workflows and backend services that transform complex security insights into actionable, user-friendly product experiences.

What you'll do

Vulnerability Workflow Development: Build comprehensive end-to-end workflows for vulnerability discovery, security scanning, red teaming, findings review, remediation, and reruns.
Backend Service Engineering: Design and operate backend services supporting long-running security work, including APIs, asynchronous orchestration, durable state management, and developer workflow integrations.
Product Experience Design: Transform complex security results into actionable insights through clear product interfaces, strong evidence presentation, thoughtful prioritization, and reliable reporting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with security researchers, product teams, and users to evaluate product quality, reduce noise, improve coverage, and ensure safe deployment of security tools.

Full Stack DevelopmentProven experience shipping production-grade full-stack products across modern web frontends and backend services
Systems DesignAdvanced capability in designing clear APIs, creating robust data models, and reasoning about complex asynchronous systems
Performance OptimizationAbility to diagnose and resolve reliability and performance challenges in distributed systems

Education

Computer Science DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional Software EngineeringMinimum 4-6 years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated full-stack development expertise
Security EngineeringExperience in application security or cybersecurity is a plus, but not mandatory
