OpenAI is seeking a highly skilled System Power Engineer to optimize power consumption and efficiency for cutting-edge AI-powered consumer devices. The role involves developing sophisticated power testing methodologies, collaborating across engineering teams, and driving improvements in battery life, thermal performance, and system reliability for next-generation hardware products.

What you'll do

Power Testing Automation: Define and develop automated testing for system power consumption across various workloads and conditions
Subsystem Power Measurement: Measure and analyze power consumption using advanced lab instrumentation
Power Characterization: Execute comprehensive power tests spanning basic and complex usage scenarios
Efficiency Optimization: Collaborate with electrical and software engineering teams to improve system power efficiency
Benchmarking: Establish repeatable power benchmarks and measurement methodologies for product lifecycle tracking

What we look for

Technical

Power TestingAdvanced skills in developing power testing automation and measurement techniques
Hardware-in-the-Loop TestingExperience designing and operating complex hardware testing laboratories

Education

Engineering DegreeBachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field

Experience

Embedded SystemsMinimum 5+ years of experience in power optimization for embedded hardware platforms
Hardware Product DevelopmentProven track record of contributing to hardware product development cycles
