Summary

OpenAI is seeking a Technical Lead Manager for their Trust & Safety Data Engineering team, responsible for building robust data foundations to detect, investigate, and mitigate abuse and safety risks across AI products. The role requires a hands-on technical leader who can strategically develop data systems, drive execution, and create privacy-safe, scalable data pipelines for advanced AI safety monitoring.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead and grow a high-performing Trust & Safety Data Engineering team
Technical Strategy: Define roadmap and technical strategy for Trust & Safety data systems
Data Pipeline Development: Build canonical, privacy-safe datasets and pipelines for abuse detection, risk signals, and safety monitoring
ML Foundation Creation: Develop reusable foundations for Trust & Safety model development, including features, labels, and training data
Data Governance: Establish data quality standards, documentation, monitoring, and operational rigor for critical datasets
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure launch readiness and operational systems

Leadership ExperienceProven track record of leading data engineering teams and building production systems

Safety SystemsBackground in trust and safety, integrity, or related risk management domains
