The role

Summary

Panoptyc is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to drive the development and management of their edge device platform for AI-powered retail security solutions. The role focuses on embedded systems, cloud-connected infrastructure, and computer vision, requiring deep expertise in hardware optimization, cloud connectivity, and IoT device management across challenging real-world retail environments.

What you'll do

Edge Device Platform: Design and maintain embedded computing solutions using Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson platforms
Cloud Connectivity: Manage AWS IoT Core integration, device provisioning, and fleet-wide configuration
System Integration: Build robust integrations with IP cameras, POS systems, and video pipelines
AI Workload Optimization: Tune model inference for constrained hardware, focusing on performance and resource efficiency
Engineering Culture: Collaborate cross-functionally, document architectures, and leverage AI coding tools

What we look for

Technical

Embedded Systems5+ years of experience with embedded Linux and edge hardware deployment
Cloud InfrastructureAdvanced knowledge of AWS IoT and cloud-connected device management

Education

Computer EngineeringBachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field preferred
