Summary

Plaid is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its AI Applications team, focusing on transforming financial services through cutting-edge AI technologies. The role involves guiding a team of 4 engineers in developing innovative AI-powered solutions for financial data integration, customer experience, and emerging fintech applications.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead a team of 4 engineers ranging from junior to staff level, focusing on professional development through coaching, clear goal setting, and constructive feedback

Strategic AI Integration: Define and drive long-term strategy for AI applications in financial technology, partnering closely with technical and product leaders

Customer AI Solutions: Lead projects that enable scaling business with AI customers and partners, focusing on personal finance use cases and innovative integration patterns

AI Customer Experience: Scale and extend AI-powered customer experience solutions, including developing advanced multi-turn customer support agents and expanding agentic systems across customer journey touchpoints

Innovation Development: Architect trust layers and integration patterns for conversational interfaces and AI-driven financial services

Technical

Large Language Model ExpertiseHands-on experience with LLMs, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and agent orchestration frameworks

AI Product DevelopmentProven track record of building and shipping AI-powered products with iterative user feedback

Technical ArchitectureAdvanced understanding of AI system design, including evaluation frameworks, semantic search, and vector database technologies

Education

Advanced Technical DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Engineering ManagementMinimum 1 year of engineering management experience

Senior Engineering Background8+ years of industry experience, including time as a Staff-level engineer before transitioning to management

Team BuildingDemonstrated ability to build and grow high-performing engineering teams
