The role
Summary
The TechOps Engineer at Plaid is responsible for managing and scaling corporate infrastructure systems that support a 1,000+ person organization. This role requires expertise in identity and access management via Okta, macOS device management using tools like Kandji or Iru, and infrastructure-as-code practices. You'll own critical systems including Google Workspace, Slack, Linear, and endpoint management while collaborating with Security and Engineering teams to ensure infrastructure reliability, automation, and security compliance across Plaid's global offices.

Interview process
- 1Initial Screening Call — Conversational discussion with Plaid Talent team to discuss your background, interest in TechOps, and alignment with Plaid's infrastructure-first culture. Typically 30 minutes covering motivation and experience overview.
- 2Technical Interview - Systems Design — Discussion with TechOps team members about infrastructure challenges, design decisions, and automation approaches. Expect scenarios involving device management at scale, identity architecture, or automation strategy implementation.
- 3Technical Interview - Hands-On Automation — Practical exercise demonstrating scripting and automation skills. May involve writing Bash/Python scripts, Infrastructure-as-Code configuration, or solving operational problems through code-based solutions.
- 4Cross-Functional Alignment — Conversation with Security or Engineering team members to discuss collaboration style, security instincts, and ability to partner across technical organizations.
- 5Leadership Discussion — Discussion with TechOps leadership about long-term infrastructure vision, team culture, and your approach to building systems with high reliability standards and automation-first mindset.
- 6Offer Discussion — Final conversation covering compensation structure including salary, equity vesting schedule, benefits details, and role-specific expectations for on-call rotation and work location requirements.
