The role

Summary

Poshmark's Core Infrastructure team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive developer experience, microservice development, and performance initiatives. The ideal candidate will help transform the company's monolithic platform into a scalable, modular architecture using multiple programming languages and cutting-edge engineering practices.

What you'll do

Code Development: Write high-quality code in Ruby (JRuby), Java, and Python
API and Framework Design: Develop APIs, frameworks, libraries, and services for internal developer use
System Architecture: Design and improve architecture to ensure horizontal scalability across application layers
Performance Optimization: Resolve performance issues at all application tiers
Developer Experience: Shape engineering enablement by defining best practices for development teams
Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with DevOps, security, and SRE teams to integrate compliance, performance, and reliability

What we look for

Technical

Programming SkillsProficiency in Ruby (JRuby), Java, Python, and related backend technologies
System DesignStrong understanding of software design, data structures, and algorithms

Education

Computer ScienceStrong foundation in computer science principles

Experience

Backend Development4+ years of experience building and operating back-end systems
Complex Problem SolvingDemonstrated ability to solve large complexity problems with minimal supervision
