Summary

Poshmark is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to drive innovative AI solutions across their social commerce platform. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced machine learning techniques to enhance personalization, trust & safety, and product experiences for their 165 million member community.

What you'll do

End-to-End Data Science Initiatives: Lead comprehensive data science projects from conception to deployment, focusing on critical areas like feed personalization, product recommendations, computer vision, and generative AI solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with ML engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to design and implement high-impact machine learning models.
ML Development Lifecycle Management: Own the entire machine learning development process, including data exploration, model development, deployment, and continuous performance optimization.
Innovative Technology Exploration: Continuously explore and experiment with emerging AI technologies, methodologies, and trends to maintain Poshmark's technological leadership.
Scalable Solution Development: Develop scalable data science solutions that drive improvements across product, marketing, operations, and community functions.

Technical

Programming LanguagesAdvanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark (Scala or PySpark)
Machine Learning FrameworksExpertise in deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow
Machine Learning AlgorithmsHands-on experience with CNNs, Transformers, and Vision Transformers

Education

Advanced DegreeMS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional Experience5-8 years of experience building scalable data science solutions in big data environments

Required skills

Mathematical FoundationsStrong understanding of linear algebra, statistics, probability, calculus, and A/B testing concepts
Technical CommunicationAbility to communicate complex technical ideas effectively to diverse audiences, including executives and engineers

Advanced AI TechniquesFamiliarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT)
