What you'll do.

Join Replit's engineering team for a 12-week paid internship where you'll contribute to real features that impact millions of developers worldwide. Work alongside world-class engineers, designers, and product managers on cutting-edge AI-powered development tools, cloud infrastructure optimization, and developer-centric features. Responsibilities

  • Ship Production Features to Millions: Develop and deploy real features to Replit's platform that directly impact millions of developers worldwide. This involves writing production-quality code, participating in code reviews, and ensuring features meet quality standards before reaching end users.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, product managers, and AI researchers to align technical implementation with product vision. Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and team planning sessions to ensure cohesive feature delivery.
  • Optimize Developer Experiences: Build intuitive interfaces and optimize platform experiences that make coding more accessible to developers of all skill levels. Focus on performance improvements, user experience enhancements, and accessibility features that reduce friction in the development workflow.
  • Contribute to AI Infrastructure: Work on cutting-edge AI tools and agentic systems that power code generation, intelligent assistance, and automated development workflows. Contribute to infrastructure that enables natural language-driven application creation at scale.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Development: Participate in optimizing and scaling Replit's cloud infrastructure to support lightning-fast collaboration and execution environments. Work on backend systems, deployment pipelines, and performance optimization to ensure platform reliability.
  • Participate in Engineering Best Practices: Follow established coding standards, contribute to technical documentation, and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities for process optimization and automation.

Qualifications

What we look for.

Technical

  • Programming Language Proficiency

    Strong command of at least one programming language with ability to write production-quality code. Experience with modern languages like Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or Rust for building scalable applications.

  • Full Stack Development

    Comfortable working across frontend frameworks, backend systems, and databases. Understanding of client-server architecture, REST APIs, and web application development patterns required for contributing across Replit's stack.

  • Cloud and Infrastructure Concepts

    Familiarity with cloud computing fundamentals, containerization, and deployment concepts. Experience with platforms like Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS beneficial for understanding Replit's infrastructure architecture.

  • Problem-Solving and Debugging

    Strong analytical skills with ability to diagnose complex technical issues, read error messages effectively, and apply systematic debugging approaches. Capability to decompose large problems into manageable components.

Education

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science

    Currently pursuing or enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related technical field with demonstrated coursework in software development and computer systems.

  • Minimum One Semester Remaining

    Must have at least one full semester of academic coursework remaining after internship completion to satisfy academic continuity requirements and maintain student status throughout the internship period.

Experience

  • Full Stack Development Exposure

    Hands-on experience building complete applications across frontend, backend, and database layers. Comfortable working across the technology stack and understanding how different application layers interact.

  • Programming Language Proficiency

    Demonstrated proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Java, or Rust with ability to write clean, maintainable code that follows industry best practices.

  • Version Control and Collaboration

    Practical experience using Git and collaborative development workflows. Familiarity with pull requests, code reviews, and distributed team development practices essential for working in a professional engineering environment.
