What you'll do.

The Account Engineer role at Snowflake is a high-impact, cross-functional position designed to accelerate customer success on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud platform. This hands-on technical role bridges adoption and implementation by driving initial utilization, technical enablement, and platform expansion for new and early-stage customers. Responsibilities

  • Drive Customer Platform Adoption and Utilization: Manage a critical portfolio of new and early-stage customers, serving as the single point of contact for all technical needs. Drive adoption metrics and consumption growth through strategic guidance on data strategy, technology stack integration, and rapid use case activation. Apply outcome-based selling mindset to customer engagements, focusing on solving complex data challenges and maximizing business value.
  • Deliver Technical Architecture and Best Practices Guidance: Provide Snowflake-specific foundational guidance including architectural best practices, warehouse utilization optimization, workload isolation, resource monitoring and alerting setup, budgeting strategies, and RBAC/security configuration. Leverage AI-powered development tools and coding agents to accelerate solution delivery and implementation efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Program Development: Collaborate with Account Teams, Professional Services, Support teams, and external partners to ensure seamless resource orchestration. Create and deliver scalable, reusable programs such as Hands-on Labs (HoLs) and webinars to educate customers on platform features and industry best practices.
  • Technical Support, Triage, and Feedback: Efficiently triage incoming customer inquiries and assist the field team with technical demonstrations and troubleshooting. Act as a critical feedback loop from the field to influence future product development by working closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to identify product enhancement opportunities.
  • Portfolio Management and Success Metrics: Take ownership of the technical success and consumption trajectory within assigned accounts, with accountability for accelerated time-to-value and sustained platform growth. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while tracking customer progress toward agreed-upon timelines and delivery milestones.

Technical

  • SQL Proficiency

    Hands-on, production-level experience with SQL query writing, optimization, and database design. Must demonstrate ability to write complex queries, understand query execution plans, and optimize data retrieval.

  • Data Architecture Knowledge

    Strong foundational understanding of data warehouse architecture, data modeling approaches (star schema, normalization), ETL/ELT concepts, and modern data platform design patterns. Experience analyzing and designing scalable data solutions.

  • Cloud Platform Fundamentals

    Core understanding of major cloud platforms including AWS (EC2, S3, RDS), Microsoft Azure (VMs, Azure SQL, Data Lake), and Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, BigQuery). Knowledge of cloud networking, storage, compute resources, and pricing models.

  • Data Analytics and BI Concepts

    Understanding of data analytics workflows, business intelligence fundamentals, common analytics use cases, and how data is leveraged for business decision-making. Familiarity with analytics best practices and reporting frameworks.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical Field

    University degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, data science, or related technical disciplines. Equivalent professional experience in a technical role may substitute for formal degree.

Experience

  • Hands-On Technical Implementation Experience

    Demonstrated experience implementing data solutions, whether in data engineering, analytics engineering, application development, or data science contexts. Proven ability to translate technical requirements into working implementations.

  • Customer-Facing Technical Engagement

    Experience explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, presenting technical solutions to customers, or consulting on technology implementation. Strong track record of managing customer relationships during technical projects.

  • Project Management and Organization

    Proven ability to manage multiple technical projects concurrently, track progress against timelines, coordinate resources, and deliver on agreed-upon milestones. Experience with project management methodologies and tools.

  • Strategic Ownership and Value Creation

  • Lead Your Account Micro-Business: Take ownership of the technical success and consumption trajectory within your assigned portfolio, driving adoption metrics in your assigned accounts, acting as a single point of contact for all customer needs.

  • Driving Outcome-Based Utilization: Apply an outcome-based selling mindset to customer engagements, focusing on how the Snowflake AI Data Cloud helps them solve complex data challenges and unlock maximum business value—not just product features.
