The role

Summary

Snowflake is seeking a Director of Engineering for its Security Engineering organization, focusing on Application, Cloud, and Offensive Security. This critical role is responsible for defining and executing comprehensive security strategies across three core pillars, building high-performing security teams, and shaping the security posture of a leading AI data cloud platform.

What you'll do

Security Strategy Leadership: Define and execute security strategy across application security, cloud security assurance, and offensive security pillars, driving measurable outcomes and setting strategic direction
Team Development: Build and develop a high-performing security engineering organization by hiring top talent and fostering a culture of rigor, ownership, and continuous improvement
Offensive Security Program: Drive offensive security initiatives including red team operations, adversarial simulations, and proactive threat modeling to address emerging attack vectors in an AI-accelerated landscape
Cross-Functional Security Integration: Partner with engineering, product, and infrastructure leadership to embed security into Snowflake's AI products and cloud architecture from the ground up
Cloud Security Assurance: Own the cloud security assurance function, ensuring Snowflake's cloud environment meets enterprise customer and regulatory security standards
Strategic Communication: Translate security risks into business impact, communicating program status, emerging threats, and strategic priorities to executive stakeholders with clarity and confidence

What we look for

Technical

Cloud Security ArchitectureDeep expertise in cloud security across AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud-native security controls, identity, and infrastructure security
Offensive SecurityExperience leading or overseeing red team or offensive security programs with comprehensive understanding of adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
Security Program ManagementProven ability to build and scale high-performing security engineering teams in enterprise technology environments

Education

Academic QualificationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; equivalent professional experience also acceptable

Experience

Leadership Experience12+ years of progressive experience in security engineering, with significant leadership roles overseeing multi-domain security programs
Security Domain ExpertiseDeep expertise across at least two security pillars: application security, cloud security, or offensive security
