The role

Summary

Snowflake's Field CTO Office seeks a Principal Security Architect to serve as a security evangelist and trusted advisor for the AI & Data Cloud platform across Asia Pacific. This customer-facing role combines deep technical security expertise with strategic consulting, requiring 10+ years of experience in data security, cloud platforms, and C-level stakeholder engagement. The position involves designing security architectures, driving product adoption, and collaborating across cross-functional teams to enhance Snowflake's security posture.

What you'll do

Security Feature Enhancement: Scope security-related feature enhancements on behalf of customers and collaborate with Product Management to improve platform security capabilities
Technical Architecture & Advisory: Design and advise on optimal security mechanisms for Snowflake AI & Data Cloud implementations, creating reference architectures and security best practices
Customer Engagement & Evangelism: Act as security evangelist and trusted advisor to current and potential customers, engaging with C-level stakeholders to articulate security value propositions
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Support teams to drive customer security feature adoption and platform success
Demo & Prototype Development: Build demos, configure cloud service provider environments, and create prototypes to showcase security capabilities and integrations
Thought Leadership & Knowledge Sharing: Share expertise with internal and industry communities through webinars, conferences, and collaborative engagements across Field CTO teams
Data Platform Consultation: Assist customers with data engineering, warehousing, collaboration, AI, and machine learning concepts while ensuring security best practices
Risk Assessment & Compliance: Articulate security controls and mechanisms within risk assessment frameworks, supporting governance and compliance initiatives

Technical

Cloud Platform Security ExpertiseIn-depth working knowledge and hands-on experience in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) including security, encryption, and networking architectures
Security Frameworks MasteryDemonstrated knowledge of security frameworks including NIST, CIS, OWASP, and MITRE ATT&CK with ability to articulate controls within risk assessment approaches
Identity & Access ManagementStrong understanding of authentication, authorization, identity management, encryption, and data governance principles
Networking & Infrastructure SecurityComprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, DNS, proxies, NAT, firewalls, TLS, and cloud private networking technologies
Gen AI & LLM SecurityKnowledge of Generative AI and Large Language Model security principles, threat modeling, and appropriate security controls
Data Warehousing KnowledgeUnderstanding of ANSI SQL compliant databases and data warehousing technologies

Education

Bachelor's Degree RequiredBachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or related technical field
Master's Degree PreferredMaster's degree in relevant technical field preferred for advanced knowledge and research capabilities

Experience

10+ Years Industry ExperienceMinimum 10 years of customer-facing, hands-on implementation experience focused on data concepts, privacy, governance, networking, and security technologies
C-Level Stakeholder EngagementProven experience engaging with CxO-level stakeholders (CISO, CTO, CIO) to articulate security architecture and drive platform adoption
APJ Regional ExperienceUnderstanding of cultural diversity across Asia Pacific Japan region with flexibility to work across multiple APJ time zones
Technical Communication SkillsExcellent presentation and whiteboarding skills for large audiences, with ability to communicate security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
