Summary

Wealthsimple, Canada's leading fintech platform managing over $125 billion in assets, seeks a Senior Software Developer for Product Engineering to own full-stack feature development across React, React Native, and Ruby on Rails. What you'll do

End-to-End Feature Ownership: Own meaningful slices of the product end-to-end, from conception through deployment and maintenance. Partner with product and design teams to translate user-centric requirements into robust technical solutions that millions of customers depend on daily. Drive feature delivery across investing, banking, growth, and AI product verticals while maintaining high code quality standards.
Full-Stack Development Across Multiple Platforms: Contribute meaningfully across the entire technology stack, building Ruby on Rails services that handle core business logic, regulatory compliance, and financial integrations, while simultaneously shipping React and React Native experiences for web and mobile users. Balance technical depth in your area of focus with broad competency across frontend and backend systems.
Complex Financial Systems Architecture: Design and implement systems that handle regulatory requirements, complex data structures, varied workflows, and different risk profiles inherent to financial products. Solve high-stakes problems involving reconciliation, compliance, and reliability while keeping customer-facing experiences simple and intuitive. Manage technical complexity around money movement and financial reconciliation.
Technical Leadership and Code Quality: Influence architecture decisions, establish coding standards, and raise the bar on code quality and operational excellence across the team. Lead by example through comprehensive code reviews, detailed design documents, and mentorship of junior and mid-level engineers. Define technical strategy for your domain and help establish patterns for wider team adoption.
AI-Assisted Development and Innovation: Pioneer AI-centric workflows across the full development lifecycle, from building and testing to code review and security reasoning. Move beyond autocomplete-based AI usage into agentic workflows that accelerate development while maintaining rigorous engineering standards. Experiment with new AI-assisted patterns, validate their effectiveness, and establish best practices that the broader team can build upon.
Process and Operational Excellence: Identify bottlenecks in development processes, infrastructure, and tooling that slow team velocity. Collaborate with engineering managers and teammates to implement measurable improvements in planning, building, reviewing, deployment, and operational practices. Own technical debt reduction initiatives and drive continuous optimization of development workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, compliance, operations, and partner engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions in a regulated financial environment. Communicate technical constraints and possibilities clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Navigate complex trade-offs across multiple teams and drive alignment on technical decisions that impact the broader platform.
Mentorship and Team Development: Support the growth and development of teammates through code reviews, pair programming, and architectural guidance. Help junior engineers develop problem-solving skills and deepen their technical expertise. Contribute to hiring and onboarding processes for the Product Engineering team to build a strong technical culture.
