Role

What you'll do.

As a Senior Software Developer on Wealthsimple's Delivery Platform team, you'll architect and evolve the CI/CD infrastructure, progressive delivery systems, and observability platforms that enable hundreds of engineers to ship secure, high-quality financial software to millions of users daily. This role combines platform engineering expertise with reliability engineering and DevOps mastery, requiring 7+ years of experience with Kubernetes, GitOps (ArgoCD), GitHub Actions, and deployment automation at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Progressive Delivery Architecture and Evolution: Design and implement advanced progressive delivery strategies using Argo Rollouts and GitOps workflows. Enhance canary deployment capabilities, improve automated health checks and rollback triggers, and build self-service deployment tools that enable engineering teams to ship safely and independently without central coordination.
  • CI/CD Infrastructure Optimization at Scale: Lead initiatives to optimize CI/CD pipelines across hundreds of microservices and engineering teams. Improve build performance through smart caching, parallelization, and dependency management. Enhance artifact management workflows and package publishing systems to support fast, reliable continuous integration at enterprise scale.
  • Deployment Safety and Quality Assurance: Architect and implement comprehensive deployment gates and guardrails that prevent production incidents. Design automated quality checks including end-to-end testing, load testing, chaos validation, and progressive delivery health assessments. Ensure every deployment is verifiable, reversible, and safe through systematic quality controls.
  • Observability and Deployment Visibility: Build world-class deployment observability infrastructure using Datadog and custom tooling. Create comprehensive dashboards, alerts, and deployment metrics that surface real-time health, success rates, and performance characteristics. Integrate deployment telemetry into Backstage to give every engineer visibility into their service's deployment status and reliability.
  • Reliability Mission Execution: Drive Wealthsimple's 2026 reliability mission by implementing chaos testing frameworks that validate system resilience. Build automated rollback mechanisms and deployment confidence metrics that teams can trust. Establish reliability baselines, SLOs, and tracking mechanisms that make reliability measurable and achievable across the organization.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Partner with engineering teams across Wealthsimple to understand deployment pain points and co-design solutions that increase velocity and reliability. Mentor mid-level engineers on the team and across the organization on deployment best practices, observability principles, and platform engineering concepts. Share expertise through documentation, technical training sessions, code reviews, and community knowledge-building.
  • Platform Product Management: Treat deployment infrastructure as a product serving internal developer customers. Establish metrics for platform adoption, developer satisfaction, deployment velocity, and reliability improvements. Gather feedback from engineering teams, prioritize platform improvements, and measure the impact of platform investments on organizational shipping velocity and system reliability.
  • Infrastructure and Tooling Development: Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and cloud platforms like AWS. Build custom automation tooling and internal developer platforms that reduce deployment friction. Write clean, well-tested code in TypeScript, Python, Ruby, or other languages used across Wealthsimple's engineering organization.
