Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.

We’re looking for an Intermediate Software Developer to help deliver meaningful product improvements and customer-facing features. In this role, you’ll take ownership of small-to-medium sized projects, contribute to high-quality code, and work closely with teammates and partners to take work from planning through release and support.

The Authorization team builds the foundation that determines which people and systems can take which actions across 1Password. The team owns Unified Authorization, cross-product authorization APIs, and supporting services, while partnering closely with Identity Services, Authentication, and Trust Platforms. This is foundational work: you’ll help simplify authorization for developers, strengthen access controls for customers, and shape how 1Password governs access as its product ecosystem grows.

How we’re using AI today

Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

  • Proficiency in Go and solid working knowledge of the tools and technologies needed to complete tasks independently.

  • Experience building or working with authorization or identity systems, with a solid understanding of access control and permissions.

  • Comfort navigating an existing codebase, reusing established patterns, and proposing improvements when needed.

  • A quality mindset: you care about testing, maintainability, and clarity in both code and documentation.

  • Strong communication: you share progress, raise blockers early, and help ensure stakeholders understand outcomes.

  • Collaborative approach: you seek feedback, incorporate it well, and contribute constructively in team discussions.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience supporting production systems and participating in on-call or incident response rotations.

  • Familiarity with improving developer workflows (tooling, CI/CD, testing, documentation) to increase team velocity and quality.

What you can expect:

  • Build and ship new features, product improvements, and bug fixes within your team’s codebase.

  • Own delivery of small-to-medium scoped projects, working with minimal oversight and following through to completion.

  • Participate in the full development lifecycle: planning, implementation, testing, release, and post-launch support.

  • Write maintainable, well-tested code, and contribute to evolving testing strategies and practices.

  • Document your work clearly and share context so others can understand, review, and support what you build.

  • Provide thoughtful code reviews that improve quality, support team delivery, and reinforce best practices.

  • Collaborate with customer support and other partners to help investigate issues and prioritize customer feedback.

Nice to have:

  • Experience supporting production systems and participating in on-call or incident response rotations.

  • Familiarity with improving developer workflows (tooling, CI/CD, testing, documentation) to increase team velocity and quality.
