Summary

1Password is seeking a Principal Engineer to define the technical direction for AI-powered security capabilities, focusing on building production-grade systems that meet high standards of privacy, auditability, and user trust in the identity and credential management space.

What you'll do

AI System Architecture: Define technical standards and architecture for AI-powered security capabilities

Security Governance: Establish standards for signal collection, data retention, and privacy-preserving design

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Security, Privacy, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure comprehensive trust and regulatory compliance

Platform Development: Create platform primitives for consistent and safe AI feature implementation

Performance Standards: Set operational standards for AI in production, including evaluation frameworks and incident response

What we look for

Technical

Production SystemsProven experience building and operating high-trust production systems

AI/ML ExpertiseDeep knowledge of AI systems with explicit guardrails and evaluation pipelines

Security Domain ExpertiseSignificant experience in identity, authentication, and security management

Education

Advanced DegreeMS or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Technical LeadershipMinimum 7-10 years of software engineering experience with significant technical leadership roles

AI Security ExperienceDemonstrated track record of implementing AI systems in security-sensitive environments
