Summary

As a Senior Developer on 1Password's Growth Team, you'll architect and build scalable self-serve experiences, experimentation platforms, and analytics-driven systems that power rapid product iteration for 180,000+ enterprise customers. This role combines full-stack development expertise with product strategy, requiring you to balance rapid experimentation with architectural rigor while mentoring team members in a remote-first, security-focused SaaS environment.

What you'll do

Experimentation Platform Development: Design, architect, and maintain 1Password's experimentation platform infrastructure, including feature flags, instrumentation layers, data quality pipelines, and reporting loops. This involves creating abstractions that enable rapid hypothesis testing while maintaining high reliability standards for enterprise customers.

Experiment Design & Implementation: Lead the technical design and implementation of experiments targeting activation, engagement, and expansion metrics. Partner with product managers and data analysts to translate business hypotheses into measurable outcomes, execute multivariate tests, and interpret results to inform product direction.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and data teams to refine growth hypotheses, establish success metrics, and drive feedback loops. Participate in technical design discussions, contribute to product strategy, and help translate customer insights into engineering priorities.

Self-Serve Experience Development: Build net-new self-serve onboarding, activation, and expansion experiences that drive organic growth. Develop customer-facing web applications with focus on performance, accessibility, and user experience while maintaining security and compliance standards.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Raise engineering standards through code reviews, pair programming sessions, and technical design discussions. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and help identify technical opportunities that unlock new growth mechanisms.

Architecture & Performance Optimization: Balance rapid iteration with long-term architectural health and security. Optimize system performance, improve observability, and establish patterns that scale with 1Password's expanding B2B product suites while maintaining the security and compliance standards the company is known for.

Analytics Integration & Instrumentation: Implement comprehensive instrumentation and analytics tracking to measure user behavior, product adoption, and business impact. Ensure data quality, establish meaningful metrics definitions, and create dashboards that drive data-informed decision-making across the growth organization.

Backend Systems Evolution: Evolve underlying growth systems and integrations that power product expansion. Contribute to backend architecture decisions, improve system resilience, and identify opportunities to leverage modern development practices and technologies.

Backend Services Development5+ years of professional software development experience building production-grade backend services in modern languages such as Go, Node.js, Ruby, or Python. Demonstrated ability to design scalable, maintainable APIs and microservices that handle enterprise-scale traffic and reliability requirements.
