The role

Summary

Atlan is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer for their Foundation Platform team, focusing on building and evolving multi-tenant infrastructure across cloud providers. The role involves owning Kubernetes-based production infrastructure, implementing GitOps deployments, and creating robust automation for complex cloud environments.

What you'll do

Infrastructure Management: Own and evolve multi-tenant Kubernetes infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP, managing full tenant lifecycle including provisioning, scaling, migration, and offboarding.
Deployment Optimization: Improve GitOps deployments using ArgoCD and Helm, focusing on increasing deployment safety and speed for 1,000+ applications across hundreds of tenants.
Infrastructure Automation: Replace manual infrastructure runbooks with reliable automation using Infrastructure-as-Code and workflow engines, covering Kubernetes upgrades, Private Link setups, and disaster recovery processes.
Observability Enhancement: Strengthen system observability by improving logging, metrics, and alerting stack to drive better reliability, visibility, and meaningful cloud cost reduction.
Incident Management: Lead customer-facing infrastructure work and incidents end-to-end, transforming learnings into clear runbooks, dashboards, and AI-assisted operational skills.

What we look for

Technical

Kubernetes ExpertiseDeep hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production, including cluster management, upgrades, networking, RBAC, and multi-tenant concerns.
Cloud InfrastructureSolid experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or Crossplane.
Programming SkillsProduction-quality infrastructure automation skills in Go or Python, with familiarity in TypeScript preferred.

Education

Advanced Technical DegreeBachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred.

Experience

Platform Engineering7+ years in platform engineering, infrastructure, SRE, or backend systems at a SaaS company.
GitOps ExperienceStrong GitOps and Helm experience at meaningful scale, including managing deployment complexities and improving deployment safety.

KubernetesAdvanced management of Kubernetes clusters in production environments
Infrastructure as CodeExpertise in creating and managing infrastructure using code-based tools
Cloud PlatformsProficient in multi-cloud infrastructure management (AWS, Azure, GCP)
