The role

Summary

Benchling is seeking a Software Engineer for its AI Growth team in San Francisco, focusing on building innovative AI solutions for scientific workflows. The role involves creating product experiences that drive AI adoption among scientists, working across the tech stack to optimize user onboarding and create impactful AI-driven tools for the biotechnology industry.

What you'll do

Product Experience Development: Build end-to-end product experiences that drive adoption of scientific AI, including onboarding flows, in-product discovery, and feedback mechanisms
Customer Engagement: Work directly with customers to understand use cases, gather feedback, and onboard scientific teams
Experimentation and Growth: Conduct rapid experiments including A/B testing, implement instrumentation, and perform data analyses to identify user activation and retention strategies
Platform Development: Continuously improve the growth platform by developing frameworks and tooling to facilitate testing, measurement, and scaling of successful experiments
AI Strategy Development: Contribute to evolving Benchling's engineering and product development practices to define best practices for AI adoption in scientific contexts

What we look for

Technical

Full-Stack EngineeringProficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React) and backend languages (Python)
Analytics and InstrumentationExperience with defining success metrics, implementing event tracking, and data-driven decision making

Education

Computer Science or Related FieldBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

Experience

Product Development5+ years of experience building consumer-grade products, preferably in a growth-focused environment
Experimental ApproachDemonstrated ability to rapidly iterate, form hypotheses, and scale successful solutions

Skills

Required skills

ReactProficiency in modern frontend development using React or equivalent frameworks
PythonStrong backend development skills in Python or similar languages
Data AnalyticsAbility to perform data analysis and implement event tracking

Nice to have
