Summary

Benchling is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in scientific AI models to help build a scalable platform that integrates cutting-edge scientific AI into biotech research and development workflows. The role focuses on developing infrastructure for model inference, creating developer frameworks, and collaborating directly with scientific teams to advance AI capabilities in life sciences.

What you'll do

Scientific Model Platform Development: Design and implement scalable infrastructure for fast, reliable, and cost-effective model inference across diverse scientific models
Model Developer Ecosystem: Create standards and tooling to facilitate easy integration, testing, and deployment of third-party open-source and proprietary scientific models
Customer Collaboration: Directly engage with customers to explore use cases, gather feedback, and onboard scientific teams to the Benchling platform
AI Strategy Evolution: Contribute to technical direction, drive experimentation, and help evolve engineering and product development practices in the emerging scientific AI landscape

What we look for

Technical

Backend SystemsExtensive experience with infrastructure supporting scientific model training and inference
Performance OptimizationStrong skills in optimizing compute-intensive systems and infrastructure

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computational Biology, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Scientific Computing3+ years of software engineering or equivalent research experience in developing or deploying scientific models
