The role

Summary

Confluent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II for their Kora Group Coordination team, focusing on developing a cloud-native, highly scalable distributed coordination service. The role involves designing and implementing low-latency, fault-tolerant systems that manage complex distributed workloads across large-scale data streaming platforms.

What you'll do

Distributed Systems Design: Design and implement high-scale, low-latency features in distributed coordination cloud-native services

Project Ownership: Own complex projects end-to-end, refining ambiguous requirements into clear milestones and driving execution across components and services

Reliability Engineering: Lead reliability and operational improvements for core services, including health checks, incident reduction, and resilience testing

Technical Mentorship: Raise the technical bar through thoughtful design documents, code reviews, and mentoring other engineers

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product, platform, security, and other engineering teams to define requirements and evaluate technical trade-offs

Operational Excellence: Contribute to improving runbooks, debugging workflows, tooling, and automation around service health and incidents

Education

Migration ProjectsProven experience with complex migration projects, including moving state between components and implementing multi-phase rollouts
