Summary

Cursor is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its critical Infrastructure team, responsible for foundational cloud, networking, storage, and compute layers. The ideal candidate will drive technical strategy, optimize infrastructure scalability, and build robust systems that enable the company's rapid growth in developer tools.

What you'll do

Kubernetes and Cluster Management: Own Kubernetes cluster foundations, build and operate production clusters with service mesh, scaling, and reliable ingress capabilities

Geo-Deployment Architecture: Design and implement a robust, replicable process for deploying geo-replicated services across multiple cloud regions and providers

Edge and Security Infrastructure: Design and implement networking and security layers to protect against abuse, manage rate limiting, and optimize traffic routing

Data Storage Strategy: Lead team's work on database systems including Postgres, OLAP systems, and caching layers to ensure reliable, performant, and scalable storage infrastructure

Cost Management: Build infrastructure attribution systems, identify resource waste, and optimize cloud spending while maintaining reliability

Compute Platform Unification: Define a consistent, opinionated container orchestration strategy to enable reliable deployments across all engineering teams

Team Development: Source, interview, and hire top infrastructure talent, develop engineers through coaching, mentorship, and strategic project assignments

What we look for

Technical

Cloud InfrastructureExtensive experience with AWS or comparable cloud providers, with deep knowledge of VPC networking, EKS/Kubernetes, and IAM/account management

Kubernetes ExpertiseProven experience building and operating production Kubernetes clusters at scale, including service mesh, autoscaling, and multi-region deployments

Database SystemsStrong understanding of database design, storage engines, caching strategies, and ability to evaluate performance, consistency, and cost tradeoffs

NetworkingAdvanced knowledge of edge networking, CDN/WAF architectures, and infrastructure-level traffic management

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Leadership ExperienceMinimum 5-7 years of experience leading engineering teams specializing in production infrastructure and platform systems at scale
