Summary

Deliveroo is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Event Streaming Systems team in London, focusing on building and operating highly reliable, scalable streaming infrastructure that powers critical workflows across Deliveroo, DoorDash, and Wolt. The role involves managing infrastructure engineers, driving platform initiatives, and ensuring the reliability of event streaming technologies.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead and grow a team of infrastructure engineers responsible for Kafka, EventBus, and event streaming infrastructure

Strategic Initiatives: Drive delivery of key streaming platform initiatives, balancing reliability, scalability, and long-term technological evolution

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with infrastructure and engineering leaders across Deliveroo, DoorDash, and Wolt to define streaming strategy and roadmap

System Optimization: Improve scalability, observability, automation, and reliability of Tier-0 streaming systems

Operational Excellence: Foster continuous improvement through incident management, postmortems, and proactive system enhancement

Talent Development: Hire, mentor, and develop engineers while building a high-performing, inclusive team

Technical Leadership: Contribute to architecture, design reviews, and technical decision-making for large-scale distributed systems

Streaming InfrastructureExtensive experience with Kafka or large-scale event streaming systems

Distributed SystemsStrong technical depth in scalable production systems and high-reliability infrastructure

Platform EngineeringExperience building or operating event streaming, storage, or data infrastructure platforms

Education

Technical DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred
