The role

Summary

Docker is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Secure Build team, responsible for managing critical infrastructure behind Docker's container build systems. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical leader who can drive team performance, technical direction, and operational excellence while maintaining deep technical involvement in secure build infrastructure.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead a team of senior engineers operating Docker Build Cloud and Hub's build systems, focusing on delivering next-generation secure build infrastructure
Strategic Roadmap Management: Transform ambiguous, high-stakes roadmaps into executable plans with time-bound commitments for regulated and federal customers
Technical Involvement: Remain actively engaged in technical design discussions, code reviews, and hands-on coding to drive technical excellence
Operational Excellence: Ensure reliability and performance of production services, managing on-call rotations and maintaining high operational standards
Team Development: Own the growth, performance, and hiring of team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence

What we look for

Technical

Infrastructure EngineeringDeep understanding of CI/CD, build system internals, container images, and OCI registry mechanics
Security ExpertiseStrong knowledge of software supply chain security, OWASP Top 10, and modern attack models
Programming SkillsHands-on experience with Go programming language, with ability to contribute to code base

Education

Academic BackgroundBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

Management Experience5+ years managing high-performing engineering teams, including engineers at or above personal technical seniority
Software Engineering8+ years of professional, hands-on software engineering experience in backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering
