The role

Summary

Hopper is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performance team developing innovative fintech products in the travel industry. The role requires a technical leader who can manage a small, impactful team, drive partner integrations, and leverage AI to scale engineering capabilities in the B2B2C travel technology space.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead a compact team of ~3 engineers, focusing on high-leverage output through AI tooling and senior engineer autonomy
Platform Development: Architect and develop the Hotels CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason) platform, including APIs, UI SDK, and payment infrastructure
Partner Integration: Manage end-to-end partner integrations, from technical scoping to implementation, including partner management portal and self-serve onboarding
Technical Strategy: Serve as senior technical voice in partner conversations, translating technical requirements and aligning engineering output with business outcomes
Technical Excellence: Foster technical growth through architecture reviews, mentorship, and elevating the technical capabilities of senior individual contributors

Backend SystemsStrong experience with APIs, orchestration, and distributed systems architecture
Cloud InfrastructureProficiency in cloud platforms like GCP and AWS
Programming LanguagesExpertise in Scala or Java, with additional experience in JavaScript/TypeScript

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

B2B/B2B2C LeadershipProven track record leading engineering teams building platforms with external partner integrations
Partner-Facing LeadershipExperience running technical solutioning calls, scoping integrations, and managing partner relationships
