The role

Summary

Hopper is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performance team developing innovative fintech products for the travel industry, focusing on the Hotels Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) platform. The ideal candidate will combine technical leadership, partner management, and AI-powered engineering to drive scalable solutions in the travel technology ecosystem.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead a small, high-performing team of approximately 3 engineers, focusing on scaling output through AI tooling and senior engineer autonomy
Platform Development: Architect and develop the Hotels CFAR platform, including APIs, pricing systems, order management, and payout infrastructure
Partner Integration: Manage end-to-end partner integrations, from technical scoping to live deployment, acting as the primary technical voice in partner conversations
Technical Strategy: Drive foundation work to enable scalable partner growth, including partner management portal, configuration tooling, and self-serve onboarding
Technical Excellence: Foster technical excellence through architecture reviews, mentorship, and elevating the capabilities of senior individual contributors

Backend SystemsStrong experience with APIs, orchestration, and distributed systems architecture
Cloud InfrastructureProficiency in cloud platforms like GCP or AWS
Programming LanguagesExperience with Scala, Java, and frontend technologies (React, JavaScript/TypeScript)

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field

Experience

B2B/B2B2C LeadershipProven experience leading engineering teams building platforms with external partners
Partner ManagementDirect experience as a technical leader managing partner integrations and solutioning
Fintech KnowledgeFamiliarity with transactional products, money movement, refunds, and pricing engines
