Summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the ChatGPT Atlas browser engineering team, focusing on building a world-class AI-enabled web browser. This role requires 5+ years of engineering management experience and deep technical expertise in distributed systems or native applications at scale. The ideal candidate will drive complex cross-functional projects, build high-performing teams, and contribute to the strategic vision of making Atlas the browser of choice for AI-assisted web interaction.

What you'll do

Team Management: Manage and grow a high-performing engineering team in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
Technical Leadership: Ramp up on the team's technology, product, and business goals, including hands-on work to develop deep technical understanding
Talent Acquisition: Lead hiring and onboarding efforts to build a strong, collaborative engineering team
Strategic Planning: Set clear priorities and strategic direction in collaboration with engineering, product, design, and research teams
Process Improvement: Drive process improvements to increase team effectiveness and product quality
Project Delivery: Deliver complex, cross-functional projects that align with business objectives and drive impact
Product Quality: Ensure the Atlas browser is scalable, reliable, and continuously improving
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Product and Research teams to push the boundaries of AI-enabled assistance
Team Development: Provide coaching and guidance to help engineers reach their peak potential
Vision Communication: Craft and convey compelling visions of the future to attract and retain top talent
