Summary

OpenAI is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and evolve critical infrastructure platforms powering their AI products. The role demands a strategic technical leader who can architect scalable, reliable systems while driving infrastructure innovation across the organization.

What you'll do

Infrastructure Design: Design and build scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure platforms that power OpenAI's cutting-edge AI products
Cloud Architecture: Evolve cloud infrastructure abstractions to enable rapid product development across multiple teams
System Reliability: Improve server orchestration, networking, and distributed systems reliability to support significant growth and operational complexity
Technical Leadership: Influence technical direction and infrastructure strategy, mentoring engineers and raising the overall technical bar of the organization
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product, research, and engineering teams to align infrastructure with evolving organizational needs
Operational Excellence: Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and maintain high standards of system performance and reliability

Kubernetes ExpertiseDeep understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration at enterprise scale
Cloud PlatformsExtensive experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, Azure, or equivalent platforms
Distributed SystemsProven track record of designing and operating highly reliable, secure, and scalable distributed systems

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Infrastructure Experience8+ years of experience building and operating large-scale infrastructure systems
Technical LeadershipProven ability to lead complex technical initiatives across multiple teams
MentorshipExperience in mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction
