Summary

PermitFlow is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and scale their innovative construction permitting software engineering team. The ideal candidate will drive technical excellence, manage team growth, and contribute to the company's mission of transforming the construction industry through applied AI and streamlined permitting solutions.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead and manage engineering team, conducting regular 1:1s, providing feedback, and creating career development opportunities
Strategic Planning: Set technical direction, anticipate scaling challenges, define priorities, track KPIs, and manage technical debt aligned with business goals
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and other teams to define technical requirements, set timelines, and ensure timely feature delivery
Technical Excellence: Ensure best practices in system architecture, design, code quality, and maintain scalability, reliability, and security of infrastructure
Talent Acquisition: Lead engineering team hiring process and provide mentorship to team members, including junior managers

What we look for

Technical

Software Engineering ExperienceMinimum 5+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in leadership roles
Agile MethodologiesProven experience with agile development processes and continuous improvement techniques
Web Application PerformanceKnowledge of testing and performance optimization for web applications

Education

Computer Science or Related FieldBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

Experience

Startup EnvironmentProven experience managing and scaling teams in a high-growth startup or SaaS environment
Cross-Functional LeadershipStrong communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
